Change the Tires, Trade the Car – Now Think On This by Steve Martin

“You will succeed in whatever you choose to do, and light will shine on the road ahead of you.” (Job 22:28, New Living Translation)

Dreams are another supernatural way the good Lord speaks to us. He gives us warnings, direction, hope, inspiration, or some other bit of knowledge for ourselves, a family member, or a group of people. When He gave me the following dream last night, following some prayer afterward as to its meaning, I knew it was for me.

But then now I think it may also be for a few of you. Read it, and if you sense an affirmation in your spirit, then too consider the possibility that the Lord may want to speak a confirmation in your heart as well.

Here goes.

The small car I was driving on the roadway seemed to be losing air in the front right-hand tire, and I thought it had picked up a nail. There was enough air left in the tire to get to my intended destination, but when I got out and looked at the tire, it wasn’t a nail or another object after all. In fact, after arriving, the rubber was totally coming off the rim! It reminded me of those tires that are re-treads, and after some good mileage had been traveled, they just fall off the main tread. You see remains of them often along highways where semi-trucks had lost the re-tread.

I then checked the left front tire, and the rubber was also starting to fall off. These had lasted just long and far enough to get me to my intended destination.

Further into the dream, I realized that it just so happened that I had stopped the car near a tire store, and the attendant said he had some tires to replace these two with. I responded with an OK, but then thought, “I am going to be trading this car in for a bigger one. I don’t need the higher priced tires. I’ll get some others instead.” And so I did.

I did not know at this time what the next car was going to be, but I believed it was to be a larger vehicle which I was going to need for the upcoming days.

I then woke up.

When I asked the Lord what this was about, and trying to recall the details, I felt He was letting me know that a change was coming soon, and that the vehicle I had been driving had gone as far as He wanted it to go, to the very end of the line in this season. A bigger replacement vehicle was coming, as I looked to trade this one in. The smaller car would still be used by someone else, who would need it for their purpose, but it would not be big enough for the purposes and plans He had next for me.

Sometimes our Lord removes those things which have completed their service for the intended purpose, knowing that the next time or season will require the need a “larger vehicle” or a different location in order to fulfill the call on our life.

As for the tires “falling off the rim” dream image, it may seem drastic, but I believe that sometimes the Lord has to cause such a drastic adjustment to come in order for us to “wake up” to the fact that He has something more for us. Otherwise, we may be content to stay as we are.

I know that is true.

Change is needed to keep us prepared for what is ahead. Change gets us from one point to another, as we “move” in the Lord’s leading. Without change, we would stay in one place, keep doing the same thing, and miss an opportunity He wants to give to us.

Change requires faith. Staying put isn’t always what the Lord desires. We must be open and willing to do as instructed, or as the next open door becomes known. We then must be willing to step through that entryway into the next mission.

Be thankful for those times when He “pushes” us to get there. A little encouragement from above is needed for us who tend to wait too long for the “next” to come. It may be that the “next” time is now.

And one more thing. Don’t despise the small vehicle you had been riding in, for it got you to the destination just arrived at, having served its purpose for that time. Be thankful that because of it, you are now at the next transfer point, to receive the next vehicle which will take you further on the road, onto the next journey.

As I said earlier, I know this dream was meant for me, and I highly suspect there are a few others who many consider this is for you too.

Move in faith as He leads. Change cometh!

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

For Our Children’s Sake – Now Think On This by Steve Martin

“And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.” (Malachi 4:6, NKJV)

I’ve heard it said that it only takes a minute to become a dad, but a lifetime to be a father. How true.

In this day and age when masculinity and fatherhood are much maligned, ridiculed often, and made to seem as a choice to be avoided, it takes much encouragement for a man to be a father to those whom the Lord has given him. The lion’s heart of the Lord, to be an overcomer and walk in that which he has been created to be, must reside in the heart of today’s fathers. Otherwise, the next generations will continue to slide into the depths of hell that the enemy would so delight to see happen.

Having raised four children, along with my good wife who continues to give so much of herself, even now I find myself even more so interceding for those who follow after us, to have the courage, strength, wisdom and resolve to give of themselves for their children’s sake. When it comes to having a father in your life, really the one person meant to be that one is the child’s father himself. I thank God for men who do adopt the fatherless, the orphaned, and for others who mentor those without a male figure in their lives, but I thank God even more so for the men who are being what a father is meant to be for his children. Being the responsible God-ordained male figure in their life is so needed in our ravished families.

Personally, over those years I have felt so inadequate so often when raising my own kids. With the pressures of marriage, the daily job rigors, and the temptations that come at us to pursue one’s own ambitions and pleasures – when it came to giving of oneself, only by the grace of the Lord has His example kept me committed as much as it did. Without the heavenly Father’s upholding hands touching my own life, I shudder to think where my kids themselves would have ended up. It has been because of the love of the Father working in and through me, for any good accomplished results, having laid that foundation in their lives, to follow after Him.

When I see them struggle, trying their best to achieve good, my father’s heart wants to make it all simple and easy for them. And yet I know that they themselves will only know the Lord’s intervention if they press on through these times too. In time, they will have grown the spiritual fruit necessary to raise their own kids.

As I consider what my role continues to be today in their lives, for my role in fatherhood never stops, I believe one major purpose is to daily pray for them. To intercede on their behalf, asking for the Lord’s protection, provision, and divine purpose, remains a true commitment I maintain for each of them.

My power is limited. His power, through the working of the Holy Spirit, is limitless. Praying in tongues, a mighty prayer weapon, activates His strength and coverage that I simply cannot do.

I remain encouraged that the Lord’s word will continue to instruct and assist in our efforts to be strong fathers in our day. I remain committed to being the example I am meant to be to those who call me Dad. I remain steadfast in my daily promise to pray for them and other fathers who also seek to stand for truth, love and faith in troubled times.

Through the love of God the Father, those who are earthly fathers can be the godly fathers we are called to be, for our children’s and grandchildren’s sake.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

Steve Martin’s latest book: HOPE – Founded in the Solid Rock

HOPE – Founded in the Solid Rock

Just released June 12, 2018

Buy here: Amazon paperback: $8.95

Soon – Kindle: $1.99

It would be nice if you could run down to the local grocery store and buy a package of hope. After all, don’t we find we need it every day? A few good helpings daily sure would be nice.

It is not quite that simple to get, but hope is certainly possible to obtain, and keep. The way I have found hope is by believing the promises of the Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, as put forth truthfully in the Bible. Through the centuries, the words written in the Word have proven accurate and life-changing in the very ones who have chosen to believe. I include myself among them.

The daily news will get you discouraged. The bank statement and monthly bills which come by mail or smartphone will drain you of your pursuit of happiness. One minute you are “up”. The next minute you hit a wall. What is it that keeps us pressing on to accomplish the good in life? Family and friends can be a good source to rely on, but even then those relationships can falter. We need more.

We need hope in our lives.

My desire and prayer are that as you read these messages you will obtain hope. Not a hope that will get you just through this day, but an eternal hope where you can stand strong, press on, and know deep in your heart that when it is all said and done, what He, Jesus, has said and done will be the very truth that keeps you until the end.

Find hope. Keep it within, and know that the faith, hope, and love of the Almighty God will always be there for you. He is our only hope.

Gone, With No Remains – Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Gone, With No Remains

Now Think On This

Steve Martin

“Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.  “The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell — and great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:26-27, NASU)

What remains when the Spirit has left? Rocks, a bit of history, or forgotten memories? Maybe a trace of what was can be found, but generally the living no longer celebrate the what was anymore. At least that is how it seemed when walking among the former monasteries and abbeys of centuries gone by, as we visited those ruins in Ireland. Even the massive cathedrals yet in operation today seemed hollow and just glorified shells of religion.

St. Patrick and a few of his contemporaries brought the Gospel to the Emerald Island, but for the most part, only a statue and some printed prayer cards now for sale offer any resemblance of the truth and life that had then replaced the paganistic beliefs during his time. The shamrock was used to teach of the Trinity back then. But for many, it now is just a nice green plant with three blades.

So what happens when generation after generation forgoes the biblical way of life? You get nothing left but ancient stones and relics from long ago. The lamp has gone out. The Light of the World is no longer sought after nor desired to take away the darkness. What was beautiful at the time has been replaced with a glossed over religion that leaves each person not much better off than the one drinking life away at the local pub.

It is said that God has no grandchildren. Each generation must find the Savior and walk in His ways. You just can’t expect to receive what your parents had and get into the Kingdom by inheritance. Each person must seek and find Him for themselves. Though the previous ones who blazed the trail can instruct and encourage those who come next, it is up to each and every person, in each generation, to know the Lord personally and determine with the commitment to experience His purposes.

Although I was amazed at the extensive wealth and effort it had taken to construct these magnificent buildings that we walked through, I could only think of the lifeless rituals that now take place within them, of those still in use. For those trusting in anything less than the Lord Himself, I didn’t see where they offered much other than a photo to be taken. And with the ever-increasing sparse attendance at the weekly religious ceremonies, while congregations continue to die off, only the tour group tickets seemed to keep the facilities maintained. The populations surrounding the grounds had left their life at these doors years ago, if even then they had once crossed their thresholds.

What hope is there when people cast away that which can bring them the only hope? There is none.

Man will continue to build monuments, grand edifices, and crosses held high into the steepled sky, but unless they establish meaningful foundations in the heart, and that only through the grace of the Messiah, will there be an eternal life that will live long past the daily destructive forces that beat away all of that made of temporal material.

Our hope must be grounded on the Solid Rock, the Person of the Lord Jesus, and not on some religious form within or without. As the author of Hebrews wrote, “And this phrase, “one more time,” makes clear that the things shaken are removed, since they are created things, so that the things not shaken may remain.” (Hebrews 12:27, Complete Jewish Bible) Only that trusted in, or hoped on, of the Lord will remain for good forever.

Make sure your hope is grounded on the sure footing for today and those yet to come. Keep it placed in Jesus Himself, and not in that which man has built, which will be gone with no remains.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).
